networking | redundancy & load balancing
Has the web become the life-line for your company? What if your web server went down? What if your ISP is off-line for maintenance?
Unreliable Internet connectivity and slow response times are common problems facing users in branch offices. Numerous factors contribute to this less than optimal application availability. Traffic overload, bandwidth bottlenecks, and link failures all result in incomplete transactions and denied user access. Spending money on more bandwidth does not address the problems of WAN latencies and line utilization.
There is also the issue of ensuring the security of the branch office against unauthorized access and other vulnerabilities of web-based applications.
To solve these problems, NCI recommends load balancing switches or appliances together with redundant ISP connections. These application delivery solutions maximize availability, increase performance levels, and provide security for all business critical networked applications. This can dramatically cut operating and scaling costs. These devices operate to monitor and redirect traffic, and manage bandwidth. They also support intrusion prevention and denial of service features. Fault tolerance and scalability are also available options.
NCI will recommend a solution based on a customer’s specific availability, performance, and security needs:
Nortel: |
Nortel Alteon Application Switches deliver application availability, performance, and security by balancing and accelerating traffic. |
Radware: |
Radware’s application-smart switches supports critical application intelligence making networks more responsive to specific business processes. Radware’s APSolute product family uses granual application intelligence to tune network behavior end-to-end. |
F5: |
WANJet is an appliance-based solution that delivers LAN-like application performance over the WAN |
