Penetration Testing & Ethical Hacking
Description
This course will provide security professionals with a solid foundation in penetration testing techniques (ethical hacking). A lab intensive environment will give each participant the opportunity to learn through interactive classroom instruction, demonstrations and hands-on workshops. Participants will be trained in the processes and tools used by professional hackers and crackers, and how these techniques can be used to perform security assessments on an organization. Participants will learn:
- Methodologies for conducting Vulnerability Assessments and Penetration Tests.
- Canadian and US law with respect to hacking, and how it relates to pen testing.
- Stealth techniques to hide from intrusion sensors and other security measures.
- Escalating privileges and using systems as jumping points into networks.
- Evading detection by eliminating footprints in systems and logs.
- Social engineering, DDoS attacks, buffer overflows, root kits, trojans, bots, and virus / worm behavior.
- Web and application attacks.
- Other techniques used by professional hackers and criminals to penetrate and compromise information systems.

Prerequisites
- Working knowledge of Windows & Linux Operating Systems.
- In depth knowledge of TCP/IP.
- Understanding of firewalls, intrusion protection, and network technologies (switches, routers, etc).
